The WPA is governed by a volunteer board of directors numbering between 12 and 20 members and is composed of, but not limited to, persons with Parkinson disease, family members, business professionals, attorneys, physicians, community volunteers, and allied health professionals. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of every other month beginning in February; the last meeting is the annual meeting, to which the WPA invites its membership.

Directors of the board are elected for three-year terms and serve on at least one standing committee (strategic planning, board development/nominating, finance, membership services, marketing and resource development). Committee chairpersons are appointed for one-year terms.
