There are many way to help the WPA with the gift of time. As a nonprofit with limited funds, we often need help with many of our programs and projects. Volunteering is one of the easiest and most rewarding ways to help. The WPA needs all kinds of volunteers.
The biggest need is for people who are willing to be a facilitator of a support group. A Parkinson support group is a community-based program that provides education and emotional support for people with PD and/or their caregiver. One of the goals of the WPA is have a local support group available and accessible for anyone in the state who needs one. That means we need many more people willing to try it.
We also need help with organizing and implementing the various WPA events that we plan each year. People are needed in advance to help with planning and acquiring auction and raffle items and during the event by helping to set up and run the event.
Other ways to help the WPA include assisting in the resource room and library, doing basic office work and mailings, or getting involved with committees or the board of directors.
The WPA is your organization. Our mission is to increase awareness about Parkinson disease that will lead to better care, treatment, and support for people with the disease. We cannot accomplish this without your help and support. There are thousands of people in our community that need us. I hope you will join us!
Remember – you make a living by what you get, you make a life by what you give.
