Registration is open for the Green Bay Urban Poling workshop! Thanks to the Wispact Foundation for awarding the Wisconsin Parkinson Association, one of 75 Wispact Legacy Grants! The grant will be used for Urban Poling workshops to provide equipment and training to 60 people with Parkinson’s. Attendees will receive the Activator Technique training by certified Urban Poling Instructor, Mary Wood, and one set of ACTIVATOR℗ Poles*
Walking poles ensure better balance and posture, by keeping the walker more upright. At the same time, taking longer strides will stretch the limbs and keep the body rotated, which can help loosen up and improve coordination. People with Parkinson’s agree, and report that, using the ACTIVATOR℗ Poles promotes greater independence and improves quality of life.
Join us on Friday, June 30Th from 10:00 am-12:00 pm at the Greater Green BAy YMCA-East Side Y. This workshop will provide the equipment, ACTIVATOR® Poles and training for 15 individuals with Parkinson’s disease. Thank you Brain Center of Green Bay for partnering with us. After registration, Mary Wood will contact you regarding eligibility and to answer any questions you may have.
*Note: Eligibility is for those individuals with Parkinson’s, and to those who do not own a pair of ACTIVATOR℗ Poles received at a previous Urban Poling workshop. If you have a pair and would like to participate in the workshop, just join us. Spouses and care partners are encouraged to attend. Additional poles will be available for sale.
