SUMMARY:Urban Poling Workshop
DESCRIPTION:A big thank you to the Wispact Foundation for providing another year of support! The grant will be used for Urban Poling workshops to provide equipment and training to 100 people with Parkinson’s. Attendees will receive the Activator Technique training by certified Urban Poling Instructor and one set of ACTIVATOR℗ Poles* \nWalking poles ensure better balance and posture\, by keeping the walker more upright. At the same time\, taking longer strides will stretch the limbs and keep the body rotated\, which can help loosen up and improve coordination. People with Parkinson’s agree\, and report that\, using the ACTIVATOR℗ Poles promotes greater independence and improves quality of life. \nThis workshop will provide the equipment\, ACTIVATOR® Poles and training for up to 25 individuals with Parkinson’s disease. After registration\, if necessary\, we will contact you regarding eligibility and to answer any questions you may have. \n*Note: Eligibility is for those individuals with Parkinson’s\, and to those who do not own a pair of ACTIVATOR℗ Poles received at a previous Urban Poling workshop. Spouses and care partners are encouraged to attend. \nRegister Here >>

SUMMARY:Ping Pong Workshop
DESCRIPTION:            \n  \nYou may have heard that ping pong has clearly been shown to have a positive impact on the progression of Parkinson’s and in a way that medication alone is not doing.  \nWhile all forms of exercise are beneficial\, the thing that makes ping-pong unique is that it incorporates a focus on balance\, hand-eye coordination\, and the rhythm or pace of reciprocal play. It really hits the trifecta of physical\, cognitive\, and social activities.  \nWe are partnering with the Milwaukee Table Tennis Club (MTTC) and they are hosting the ping pong workshop. This workshop will be exclusively for WPA community and free of charge. There will be MTTC volunteers available to demonstrate the basic table tennis strokes and provide instruction for attendees. No equipment necessary\, MTTC has 10 tables\, paddles\, and balls.  \nSpace is limited\, register today!
